FYI

Wed Mar 29, 2006, 10:41 PM
Hmmmm....how do I start? I've liked photography since I was a little kid. I was always playing with cameras, which my parents loved (sarcasm). When it was time for me to go off to college I went to the University of Connecticut instead of an art school because 1- I couldn't draw to save my life and 2- My parents refused to pay for anything else. So, for 2 1/2 years I was a political science major and a very unhappy person, although the parties at UConn are great! I took half a year off and decided I couldn't do it anymore. I moved back home, enrolled at Western Connecticut State Univeristy and changed my major to art. That was the best thing I've ever done. So far I've only taken one photo class, and I'll be taking more next semester. Most of what I put up is stuff I've taken in the last couple of years and is by no means my best stuff, that I keep in a portfolio since I still have a fear of people taking my pictures as their own (seeing as it's already happened to me, you can understand right?). But as far as my photography is concerned I basically hate it. I think its terrible. See the problem is I compare my work to people like Richard Avedon and Bill Eppridge. I can easily say to a person that I like to capture moments, I will find a subject I like and then wait for the right moment. I don't like to pose people, although I have done it in the past. I don't do studio work, only environmental portraits for now. Most of what you'll see is people. Anything else I've taken, like the blue truck or the train, was taken in a portrait mindset.
So that's me for now. One more year until graduation, then grad school. Oh, and by the way, I can draw now. So a big fuck you goes out to the UConn art department.

I love the style of your photos. Some of them have an eerie black and white grain to them, others have dark black shadows , and the rest seem to have this bright dreamlike color to them.

Very Nice work

The thing I really like about your work is how you capture personality in your subjects. I can sense who these people 'are'. You can see the characters. A nice touch you have
